National Cryosphere Desert Data Center
Short description
The National Cryosphere Desert Data Center (NCDC) is a disciplinary scientific data center dedicated to research on glaciers, permafrost, deserts, and related cold and arid-region environments. It was established through cooperation among several institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and related research bodies.
The center supports research on glacier systems, desert environments, atmosphere, water, soil, ecology, engineering, and sustainable development in cold and arid regions. It currently manages approximately 155.6 TB of data.

The English interface contains much less data than the Chinese interface. Users must create an account and provide a statement of purpose before requesting downloads. Access is granted only after review, and the application form is designed around Chinese research project requirements.
Repository overview
The repository covers research data related to glaciers, permafrost, deserts, atmosphere, water, ecology, and engineering in cold and arid regions. It supports interdisciplinary environmental and geoscientific research.
In addition to datasets, the center also provides papers and research reports and supports enhanced publications and FTP-based access services.
