As part of the Datathon, participants work in interdisciplinary teams on real-world challenges and can enhance their expertise in data and AI whilst working on real projects.
In collaboration with regional institutions, such as the Thuringian University and State Library (ThULB), the City of Jena and the University of Jena, we provide data and research questions to be addressed during the three-day event. The teams are supported by mentors in tackling technical and content-related challenges.

The event is aimed at interested students from all departments and years of study, regardless of their specific prior knowledge. The Datathon can be completed as a standalone event leading to a DALIJE credit or as part of the Data & AI Literacy Certificate Programme.

During the two days prior to the challenge period (5–6 October), all participants will have the opportunity, as part of our Datathon Bootcamp, to attend various workshops to learn about methods and tools for working with data that may be helpful when tackling the challenges.
