Digital University in Dialogue

The university’s digital transformation thrives on dialogue between students, teaching staff, researchers and staff. Through a variety of event formats, we create opportunities to learn about the latest developments, network with other interested parties and play an active role in shaping the university’s digital future. These events build on the ideas generated by the FORUM DIGITALE UNI JENA 2026 and continue the dialogue throughout the year.

An overview of our event formats

  • FORUM: Jena Digital University

The Jena Digital University Forum is a new, two-day event organised by the University of Jena, which replaces the established E-Learning Day. It is explicitly aimed at all members of the university community – students, teaching staff, researchers and staff. The forum aims to highlight good everyday digital practices across all subject areas of the university, to promote exchange between these areas and to provide inspiration. At the same time, it offers a space for questions, discussions and the development of shared visions.

The forum takes place every two years – the next one will be held in 2028. Click here to visit the event page for the previous Jena Forum 2026

  • INFORM - Digital Lunch Talk

Approximately every two months, the Digital Lunch Talk takes place on Mondays at 12.15 pm, offering a concise 45-minute insight into current topics relating to digital transformation. Projects and developments are presented, and there is an opportunity for questions and discussion. The talks are aimed at all university members and take place online via Zoom.

You can find the latest dates in the events calendar below and on the Qualifications PortalExternal link.

  • NETWORKING – Digital Community

The Digital Community brings together interested parties from all subject areas of the university. The focus here is on sharing experiences, networking and discussing current digitalisation topics together. Together, we identify challenges, needs and best practices. This open-format event, held once a semester, provides a space for networking, sharing experiences and discussing current digitalisation topics together.

The first meeting is scheduled for January 2027.

  • GET INVOLVED – Stakeholder groups

Anyone wishing to play an active role in shaping digitalisation at the university can get involved in topic-specific stakeholder groups. Here, requirements, challenges and potential solutions are discussed collectively, and recommendations are drawn up for the further development of processes, services and strategies.

Interested in getting involved? Please send an email to: digitalisierung@uni-jena.de
