Your option to change your studies
So, you have started your studies and gradually realize that the topic you selected is not the right one for you. Did you imagine the focus or the teaching process in your study programme would be rather different? Is there a new opportunity you want to seize immediately or a dream you would like to fulfil? Sometimes it may be only failing an examination. A change of course is perfectly normal and can be a result of various reasons. In this context, it is doubly important to be informed thoroughly beforehand and to be aware of the goal.
Should it be a completely new topic? Do you simply want a minor change of direction and complete studies in a related subject? Before taking action, it is better to speak to various people, e.g. friends, family, and the subject-specific advisor. Please also collect information about the range of courses and do not forget the application deadlines.
How do I apply for a change of subject/degree?
First, please submit a new application for study under Friedolin 2.0. You can find the application deadline and the link to the application portal under range of courses. Sometimes you can or even have to have credits transferred. In this case, you will start in a higher semester. Therefore, please contact the relevant examination office .
Master's programmes: Please note that you must apply for the respective programme within the application deadline BEFORE submitting this application. Once you have been admitted, send the application to the Master's Service Centre.
You can also apply for subjects with restricted admission (NC). Once you have been admitted, apply for enrolment in the desired programme in Friedolin 2.0. Instructions can be found hereExternal link.
How do I apply for a double/parallel degree programme?
A double/parallel degree programme is simultaneous enrolment in two different degree programmes at the University of Jena or another higher education institution. A double degree programme is only permitted if other applicants are not excluded from the programme. This means that you may only enrol in one degree programme with restricted admission.
To apply for a double degree programme, you must submit an application via Friedolin 2.0. Instructions can be found hereExternal link.
